One of Lauryn Hill’s former band members has leveled another lawsuit at the singer stating that she was a horrible boss.
Jay Gore charges that Lauryn isn’t just cheap, she’s mean, too!
TMZ.com reports that Jay Gore has filed a new suit against Lauryn, claiming that she would get verbally abusive with her band members during her 2007 European tour.
In court documents Jay said she was a nightmare behind the scenes. He states that L-Boogie "exhibited the type of behavior for which she had gained public notoriety which contributed to a hostile work environment."
If that’s unclear, Jay claims that Lauryn’s reportedly laisez faire attitude from shows where she would keep fans waiting for hours wasn’t just for show. Up until recently, Lauryn had become notorious for showing up late to concerts and turning in seemingly half-hearted performances, disappointing many of her loyals.
According to Jay, things didn’t get any better once Lauryn left the stage.
"After shows, Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating," he alleges."At one point, Hill made a statement in front of the tour personnel to the effect that ‘I can’t believe I am paying you fools, you should be paying me.’"
The former band member is now seeking $20,000 for his on-the-ordeal. It’s not clear whether that would be in addition to damages he’s seeking from his previous suit, where he’s suing Lauryn for thousands of dollars in unpaid wages from the tour in question.
Lauryn’s camp has declined to comment on the legal action at this time, but Jay’s lawyer, Nicholas Andrea, said she should expect more lawsuits like these in the future.
Nicholas told TMZ, "We believe there are other musicians who have been mistreated by Ms. Hill in a similar manner who are reluctant to stand up for their rights and this lawsuit gives them a voice as well.”
