Actress Essence Atkins is expecting her first child with hubby Jaime Mendez.
The “Smart Guy,” “Half & Half” and “Are We There Yet?” star is expecting an extra special present on Christmas Day.
“Our gratitude is overwhelming to have found each other and adding a baby to our happy home is truly a dream come true. We are both elated and humbled by this amazing gift,” Essence told People magazine.
The 39-year-old actress met her husband on Match.com, and the two married in 2008.
Essence, who has been a regular on TV since the early ’80s when she had a recurring role on “The Cosby Show,” has grown up on the small screen.
The actress’ loyal fans have been busy congratulating her via Twitter, for which Essence sent out a note of gratitude.
“Thanks for the all the lovely messages tweethearts! XO,” she tweeted.
