Rihanna may have dumped Chris Brown, but she didn’t want the judge to impose a “stay away” order on him.
As part of Chris’ plea deal, he is now required to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna for the next five years, MTV News reports. But, there is one exception to that rule: If the two are attending the same event, he can’t come within 10 yards of her.
Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra, said that RiRi doesn’t think the restraining order is necessary.
Under the plea deal, Chris is also banned from contacting Rihanna in any way. That means no phone calls, no e-mails, no text messages—nothing! And, as the judge pointed out, that order goes both ways. So, if Rihanna reached out to Chris, it would be seen as him violating his agreement, which could get him in more legal trouble.
Donald told reporters that this now makes it impossible for Rihanna and Chris to maintain a cordial relationship, even if it would be at a distance.
However, the judge noted that she would reconsider the conditions of Chris’ deal when he’s sentenced in August.
