‘True Blood’ recap: Keep This Party Going

During this episode Sookie and Bill Compton didn’t spend much time together outside of bed.

While Bill was out trying to find some clothes for his new vampire, Jessica Hamby, Sookie spent some time with her.  Jessica said she wanted to go by her family’s place and just sit across the street, but when she saw her little sister in the window, she went up to the house. That’s when things went left during the visit.

We get the sense that Jessica’s parents, who were also in the house, weren’t just protective of her…they may have been a little on the fanatical side.  At the very least, her father was liberal with the belt.

When things at the house really got ugly, Bill had to come in and save everyone. While we haven’t seen him get forceful in a minute, Sunday’s episode served to remind us that he can be vicious when he needs to be.  That’s probably a good thing, we were beginning to think he was a bit too nice for his species.

If nothing else, Lafayette Renolds is a survivor. This episode still found him trapped in some basement—which, we found out, is actually part of a nightclub called Fangtasia—looking like a runaway slave (Yeah, we said it!). Anyway, the vampires who upstairs pulled him up to an office to answer some questions about one of their own who had turned up dead recently.  Although, Lafayette didn’t kill the creature of the night, he told his interrogators that Jason had a hand in the death.

Unfortunately for Lafayette, his answers weren’t good enough and he was tossed back in the basement.  He managed to escape by pulling some metal pieces out of former cellmates hip. Don’t worry it’s not as gross as it sounds. The guy had already been ripped to pieces.  Ok…so it’s every bit as gross as it sounds, but at least the dude wasn’t alive.

Lafayette was met with more bad luck when he finally escaped the dungeon, though: one of the bartenders shot him in the leg. Not too long after that, when death seemed almost certain, he pleaded with his kidnappers to turn him into a vampire. Despite the fact that he was bleeding from a sizeable gunshot wound, he managed to sell himself pretty well.  But, we’ll have to wait until at least Sunday to find out if he made it out alive…so to speak.
