Jay-Z rocks VS runway
Kanye West had a surprise for fashionistas gathered at the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night: Jay-Z!
E! News reports that Kanye, who was supposed to perform at the show years ago before his mother’s sudden passing, paid tribute to her by performing in her honor and he got Hov to help him out.
"In 2007, I was supposed to perform this song … then my mom passed away," Kanye said before performing his hit "Stronger" with Jay-Z backing him up. "She was my superhero—now she’s my superangel."
But since Yeezy and Jay were both there, you know they had to perform a song from Watch The Throne. Find out what it was when CBS airs the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on November 29 at 10 p.m.
Dominque covers Beyoncé
Remember Dominque from "Making the Band 3"? She was the pint-sized vocal powerhouse, who blew the competition away but lacked the look that Diddy desired for his girl group.
Years later it seems that Dominique is still keeping her dream alive by trying to become a YouTube sensation. With her amazing cover of Beyoncé’s "1+1," she could be well on her way to online stardom!
Trina leaves Slip-N-Slide
Trina has announced that she’ll no longer be working with the label that launched her career. MTV News reports that the rapper revealed that her next album would be her last at Slip-N-Slide Records.
"I’m no longer considered to be affiliated with Slip-n-Slide," Trina said. "Slip-n-Slide is like my family. I grew up with those guys, and it’s been a long journey. I love them dearly, but it’s time, in my career, for me to move forward, and I’m excited about taking the next step and seeing what’s there for me."
Is Drake’s delivery old-school?
Some critics might think rapper Drake’s slower delivery isn’t true to the art form, but he reminds naysayers that’s how the genre started.
“That was almost like at the birth or inception of hip-hop,” he told Vevo News about “the artists that give you a chance to breathe and digest their words and use melody.”
What does that mean for rappers today?
“Wordy fast rap is not that appealing right now,” he said.
