A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting near the White House last week.
The Washington Post reports that Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, a 21-year-old man suspected of firing a rifle in front of the White House, was taken into custody in Pennsylvania today.
This comes as officials continue to investigate a bullet hole found in an exterior window. The projectile was stopped by a layer of bullet proof glass. The Secret Service said that Pennsylvania State Police took him into custody just after 12:30 this afternoon, when police found him in a hotel 70 miles east of Pittsburgh.
Last week, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on felony charges of carrying a dangerous weapon.
Reportedly he shot at the White House with an assault rifle around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, sending the immediate area into lockdown. He was sitting in a car parked between The Ellipse and the Washington Monument, and he abandoned the car on Constitution Avenue, N.W., to flee on foot minutes later.
It seems that Oscar may have shot more than once as authorities discovered additional rounds, not including the ones shot at the window. The bullets were found outside of the White House yesterday.
