Music mogul Clive Davis made a rare television appearance in support of Whitney Houston’s comeback album I Look to You, to be released September 1.
“You won’t forget it after you hear it,” Clive told "Good Morning America" host Diane Sawyer on Tuesday. The show has also booked Whitney’s comeback concert in September, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Clive and Whitney reunited in 2007, over 20 years after he originally signed her to his then-label Arista Records and produced her self-titled breakthrough album. Since then, the 45-year-old singer has achieved staggering highs (over 140 million albums sold) and eyebrow-raising lows (remember that one season of "Being Bobby Brown" or that Wendy Williams interview?). The lows are what industry insiders speculate this new album, a return to her ’80s sound, will help fans forget.
“There’s a song on the album called ‘I Didn’t Know My Own Strength’," explains Clive, "and it really speaks for Whitney. She tumbled, but she didn’t crumble.” Listen to the song, penned by "Unbreak My Heart" writer Diane Warren:
