Before it even premiered, “Girlfriends” was compared to HBO’s “Sex and the City.” And like that hit show, Tracee Ellis Ross hopes the “Girlfriends” storyline will make its way to the big screen.
“I would love to do a ‘Girlfriends’ movie. I want to see Joan get married," Tracee said about the character she played for eight seasons.
"I want Toni and Joan to find their friendship back again. I want that closure, and I think a movie would be a great way to do it,” Tracee told Wendy Williams.
However, Tracee said the decision to bring a “Girlfriends” flick to the big screen isn’t hers.
“I think the fans have to ask for it,” said Tracee, who still keeps in touch with the show’s co-stars.
Unlike Joan, Carla Reed, Tracee’s character on “Reed Between the Lines,” is happily married, and Tracee likes portraying Black love on TV.
“Whether I was on this show or not, I’m really glad that television is showing a man like Malcolm-Jamal Warner,” Tracee said of her co-star.
Although viewers have commented on their obvious chemistry, Malcolm and Tracee are not a couple, and Tracee wouldn’t address rumors that she’s dating Akon’s brother, Bu Thiam.
“I don’t speak of my personal life,” she said, noting that the blogs connected her with Bu. “I didn’t say that. The blogs said it,” she laughed.
