Oprah Winfrey has a reputation for landing coveted interviews with newsmakers and celebrities, and that hasn’t changed just because she’s no longer hosting her own talk show.
The former daytime queen is dusting off her scepter and is preparing for what could likely be her biggest interview of the year. She’s scheduled to sit down with Whitney Houston’s family for “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” The episode is scheduled to air Sunday, which is Bobbi Kristina’s 19th birthday.
“Bobbi Kristina shares personal memories of her mom and how she would like the iconic superstar to be remembered,” reads Oprah’s site. “The family also addresses the rumors and speculation surrounding Houston’s death.”
Oprah’s relatively new network hasn’t mimicked the success of her long-running talk show, but it’s believed the interview with Whitney’s daughter, brother Gary Houston and sister-in-law Patricia Houston will draw thousands of viewers to OWN.
CNN’s airing of the diva’s hours-long funeral on a Saturday afternoon drew more than 5 million viewers to the news network.
OWN’s one-hour special episode airs Sunday, March 11 at 9 p.m. (EST) and is preceded by “Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview” at 7 p.m. (EST).
