Despite two major cast members backing out of season 3, the New York edition of "Love & Hip Hop" will return to VH1.
The fate of VH1′s hit reality series seemed to hang in the balance at the end of last season as Chrissy Lampkin refused to work with executive producer Mona Scott-Young. Then once the season wrapped, there were whispers that Chrissy and hubby-to-be Jim Jones were getting their own show. Last week his mother confirmed that they were leaving "Love & Hip Hop" for their own spin-off series.
Many were still wondering how the show would operate without Chrissy when Emily Bustamante announced Friday that she wouldn’t be returning to the show either. With half the cast gone, Somaya Reece jokingly tweeted Friday, "@VH1iNFO No one is coming back lol smh RIP #loveandhiphopNYC."
Could this mean that VH1 is scrapping "Love & Hip Hop" all together? One source close to show is telling fans not to worry, assuring S2S that "Love & Hip Hop" will be shooting another season in New York, but they’re still figuring things out. After all, Kimbella, Olivia and Yandy Smith still seem to be interested in another round.
In the meantime Mona and other producers are focusing on "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta," which S2S has been told will debut on June 8. Viewers should get ready because insiders said the spin-off will be "a whole different slice of life" and that it will "blow New York ‘Love & Hip Hop’ out of the water."
