Tyler Perry has some rebuilding to do after part of his movie studios went up in flames last night.
WSBTV reports that about 100 firefighters were called to Tyler Perry Studios on Tuesday night after a four-alarm fire broke out around 9 p.m. The fire was extinguished by 10 p.m. As of this morning, firefighters were still checking for hot spots.
Authorities are investigating the blaze, which they believe started at a four-story soundstage. It has sustained heavy damage as a result of the fire, but the flames were mainly limited to the front face of the building. Despite word that the soundstage had collapsed, the building and its structural integrity are still intact.
Tyler was on the premises at the time of the fire, but he safely escaped. Residents of a neighboring assisted living facility were also evacuated. No injuries have been reported.
Tyler has yet to release an official statement on the fire, but reportedly he did talk to Fire Chief Kevin Cochran about it.
One witness told StraightFromTheA.com that he recalls hearing a loud boom before seeing Tyler leaving the studios in his vehicle.
