During her appearance on “The Sean Hannity Show,” Aubrey O’ Day called Fidel Castro and Adolf Hitler brilliant men.
We’re still trying to figure out why Aubrey even would have been on the “Hannity” in the first place, but we never would have guessed things would have gone this badly.
While the singer was speaking with the conservative political pundits, Fidel Castro’s supposed popularity among celebrities was brought up. Aubrey responded by saying that although she doesn’t condone any of Fidel’s actions as a dictator, she said that she thinks he is a brilliant man.
Watch the rest of that argument below.
As expected, Jewish religious leaders were outraged by the ill-conceived words , as were many others. Now, Rabbi Chaim Cunin of Chabad House has issued a statement airing his disappointment in Aubrey.
"When a woman like her uses public airwaves, with access to millions of wonderful citizens of America, and calls some of the most despicable, unspeakable hate mongers of history brilliany, then something is lacking with her intelligence.” Rabbi Chaim chastised. “This is a constant reminder of how careful we need to be when we talk about hate, because hatred is always present.”
In all the fallout from Monday’s interview, Aubrey has tried to explain her words.
“What Hitler succeeded in doing, was deplorable… And I hope we never see such an abusive use of power again. Ultimately, an individual’s IQ is, sadly, not always indicative of a strong moral compass,” she wrote on her Web site. “Sean Hannity offered a narrow question directed at Castro’s intellectual acumen, and the scope of my response was similarly narrow.”
