Jay-Z’s taking a little time off to spend some quality time with his new baby Blue Ivy Carter.
The new dad has revealed his plans to take a break from music so that he can make fatherhood a priority.
"I thought I would be more inspired to have all these new feelings to talk about, but I really just want to hang out with my daughter," he told Billboard.com. "I want to enjoy this time for what it is. I’m sure that bug to get back in the studio will come back at some point."
With all his residuals and uber-lucrative businesses, he can afford to take some paternity leave.
He’s not completely leaving hip-hop behind, though, as he’s just announced plans to headline and curate the Made In America music festival in Philadelphia this summer. The two-day event will take place over Labor Day weekend.
This comes on the heels of news that Jay is backing President Barack Obama’s new stance on gay marriage. The rapper recently told CNN that he feels "it’s the right thing to do."
In his opinion, same-sex couples not being allowed to marry is actually standing in the way of progress. "I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back," said Jay.
"What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love,” he added. “That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple."
And Hov doesn’t believe that coming out in support of gay marriage could hurt the presidents chances of re-election in November. "It’s really not about votes," Jay mused. "It’s about people."
