Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself did very good its opening weekend.
The film snagged the #1 spot at the weekend box office, earning about $24 million, Variety.com reports. While ticket sales tend to be slow at the beginning of fall movie season, I Can Do Bad All By Myself is Tyler’s third best opening for a film ever.
The film is based on Tyler’s play by the same name and it stars Taraji P. Henson as a hard-drinking, cold-hearted aspiring singer who unhappily becomes responsible for raising her niece and nephew.
This makes Tyler’s second box-office topping debut of the year, and we’re sure that news made for a very happy birthday for the entertainment powerhouse, who turned 40 on Sunday.
