Sherri Shepherd filed a police report yesterday after a Twitter follower commented that she should be raped.
“The View” co-host, who has been outspoken about her dislike of the bullying portrayed on TV’s “Basketball Wives,” seems to like it even less in real life, especially when it’s directed toward her.
“I’m not a little 19 year olds… I’m a grown @%$ woman.. seriously you want to threaten me? I’m on my way to the police,” Sherri wrote in response to the perceived threat.
It’s not exactly clear what prompted the comment from @DaCloneKiller, who wrote, “somebody should drag u in a back alley and rape you,” but Sherri took the threat seriously.
“Let’s see if the police agree with you,” she replied.
After tweeting her outrage over the tweet and how bullying has been the apparent cause of many teen deaths, Sherri made good on her threat to go to the police.
“The police said @Twitter has to be subpoenaed for release of @DaCloneKiller’s information. I will be pursuing this,” said Sherri.
While some supported Sherri’s decision to involve the authorities, many jumped on the bandwagon and continued with the verbal assaults.
One Twitter user called her a “SNITCH” and another wrote, “I know where you live.”
However, Sherri didn’t back down.
“Bullying has gotten out of hand & it’s breaking my heart that kids are out here having to deal with it,” she wrote. “I will not sit back and ignore these COWARDS.”
