While many suggest Kim Kardashian took the easy road to fame by partnering with Ray J in a sex tape that jump-started her career, she said it’s been difficult.
“That’s pretty much how I was introduced to the world,” Kim recently admitted to Oprah Winfrey. “It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me,” said Kim, who denies she publicized the scandalous footage.
Many critics agree with Kim, who has dated several high-profile men since her public hook-up with Ray J, that it will take a lot of work to overcome her past, but others consider her a role model.
Since the release of the sex tape, Kim has starred in several reality TV shows, launched fashion and accessory lines and collected acting credits in major motion pictures and TV series.
Despite the stigma attached to the sex tape and the backlash she received after her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries, Kim isn’t letting the negativity keep her down.
“I have to live with the choices I have made,” she said. “I can’t dwell on it.”
