    R. Kelly is claiming that The Notebook—recognized as arguably one of the greatest love stories of all time—is the reason why he and his ex-wife divorced back in 2009.

    Say it ain’t so, Noah!

The "Love Slide" singer said in his memoir Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me that he made the split from his then wife of 12 years, Andrea Lee Kelly, after he saw the romantic film made him realize that his marriage was over, reports TheHuffington Post.

“As the film credits started to roll, I couldn’t move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me,” the R&B superstar wrote. “The Notebook was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together, but I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine’s Day when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses that had come and gone…My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back.”

Years later we are now meeting Andrea, who was once his back up dancer in 1994. She remained out of the limelight during their relationship together. Now, Andrea is currently front and center as the star of VH1’s newest reality TV show, “Hollywood Exes” where she further explains their fairly private marriage.

Although R claims that The Notebook is the culprit in the demise of his marriage, MTV reports claims of domestic violence that may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Apparently in 2005, Andrea filed an emergency protective order against the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer due to claims of physical abuse right before they filed for divorce a year later in 2006.
