Mathew Knowles has revealed that Destiny’s Child will be coming out with new music this year!
Destiny’s Child may have unofficially disbanded long ago, but they’ve got some previously unreleased tracks. Mathew hinted to The Huffington Post that he plans to use capitalize on the never-before-heard music while resurrecting some old favorites.
“We still have our joint venture with Sony, and in November, we’re putting out two Destiny’s Child catalog records with new material,” he said.
Mathew noted that new material doesn’t necessarily mean an official reunion, though. As such, there are no immediate plans for another Destiny’s Child tour, but he’d like to see one happen one day.
“It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it, and I think the ladies are still working happily in their solo careers,” he said adding, “I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible.”
Five years is a lot of time to figure out how a reunion show would go. That could be great considering that coordinating the performances would be a huge undertaking.
First would be the question of who to include on the tour since DC has had six members total. Solange Knowles could make it seven since she performed as part of Destiny’s Child during a special performance at the VMAs in the early 2000s. Since their days in Destiny’s Child Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett and Michelle Williams have all gone on to different levels of solo success.
So, who would be gracing the stage and what will they perform?
“The hardest thing would be choosing which songs they’re going to do, because we would want to mix it up with solo hits and Destiny’s Child hits. We would have to throw away some #1′s from off the set list," said Mathew.
