Nicole Murphy echoed the sentiments of many “Basketball Wives” critics recently, when she pointed out that several of the series stars were never actually wives.
“We were all really married,” she responded when asked how her series, “Hollywood Exes,” differs from the controversial hit show that airs on the same network.
While Shaunie O’Neal, Jennifer Williams and Tami Roman—about half of the regular cast of “Basketball Wives"—were actually wed to ballers, each of Nicole’s co-stars, herself included, were married to celebrities.
Since the show’s premiere, Jennifer has divorced and Evelyn Lozada has married a football player.
The marriage factor is just one of the differences between “Basketball Wives” and “Hollywood Exes” that Nicole listed.
“It’s more positive and encouraging,” she said about her series. “It’s sexy—kinda like a ‘Sex and the City’ type of thing. It’s really smooth. It’s fun. There’s a lot of laughter.”
“Hollywood Exes” airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on VH1. Nicole talks more about the show in the August 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
