After three years of being banned from owning a dog, Philadelphia Eagle’s quarterback Michael Vick said he might get a dog.
We all know the long haul Michael has gone through with his dog-fighting drama, but in a recent interview with Piers Morgan, who announced that the three-year ban will be lifted this month, Michael said he thinks it’s more important to be understood by people.
“Some people are going to like you, some people aren’t just for certain reasons that are unexplainable. I won’t try to understand, but I think it’s important that I’m understood, and people understand in a sense why,” he said.
Michael admitted that he didn’t think his mother would understand initially, and he kept her in the dark about his illegal activities.
"I told her the truth the day I got arraigned. I think my mom cried for four or five days straight, and everybody else around me who loved me and cared about me, because they just didn’t think it would go that far—they didn’t think I would end up going to prison. It was a dramatic change for everybody’s life," he said.
Although he doesn’t own a dog yet, Michael said he still deals with his kids being deprived of that dream for the last three years.
“Not being able to have a dog because of my acts, I just don’t think that’s fair,” he said.
For now, Michael said he is putting everything in God’s hands to make it right, and if and when he does decide to get a dog he said he would let his children pick it out.
“It certainly wouldn’t be a pit bull,” he said.
