Kerry Washington said the new season of “Scandal” has her screaming.
“The first episode of the second season is bananas. It’s very exciting … lots of answers from the cliffhangers, but more questions as well,” Kerry told “Access Hollywood.”
"When I got this script…as I’m reading it, I’m screaming, screaming. It’s great," she said.
The popular drama stars Kerry as a crisis management specialist who’s in a torrid affair with the married president of the United States. Kerry’s Olivia Pope character suppresses her feelings while cleaning up crime scenes and keeping proverbial bodies buried.
“Things get even more complicated. It’s really good. It’s very exciting,” she said.
While she is likely most recognized as a big-screen actress who’s starred in films like I Think I Love My Wife and For Colored Girls, Kerry said she’s glad to be on TV right now.
“I’m just really thrilled about what’s going on in television right now. The quality of what’s on in television. It’s fantastic. So, I’m really proud to be a part of that world and just excited. There’s so much quality writing, acting, directing, producing happening on TV right now,” she said.
The new season of “Scandal” doesn’t premiere until fall, but Kerry and her co-stars return to work soon.
“What we’re really happy about is that we get to start our second season next week. We actually have a table read on Friday," she said.
