Towanda Braxton thinks Toni Braxton would make a great addition to “American Idol.”
“I did hear that rumor. Wouldn’t it be fabulous? I would watch again,” she teasingly sang.
Towanda wouldn’t confirm or deny the rumors that Toni could join judges Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson, but she assured “Braxton Family Values” fans that Toni would be back for their show’s third season, starting in August.
“She is a Braxton. She will be back, and I can’t wait for fans to see another side of Toni, the businesswoman, the perfectionist Toni Braxton,” Towanda said. “Toni is a beast, baby.”
Although youngest sister Tamar will soon be starring in her own reality spin-off series, Towanda also assured that Tamar isn’t leaving “BFV” either.
“It’s just like the Kardashians,” said Towanda, referencing the popular E! reality series “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” and its many spin-offs.
While many reality TV shows are criticized for their violence, materialism and negative depiction of minorities, Towanda warned naysayers against clumping all reality shows together.
“You can’t rate all the reality shows and put them all in one bucket and say they’re all a mess. That’s like saying a race of people is a mess and putting them in a bucket,” she said.
Unlike several of her reality show counterparts, Towanda doesn’t blame the series’ producers for shaping the sisters’ personalities or storylines in any way.
“They allow us to be us,” she told Sister 2 Sister. “They don’t tell us what to say. They don’t tell us how to act. It’s five of us; including Mommy it’s six. We have six different personalities. We are who we are. What you see is what you get.”
