One radio host is questioning whether U.S. Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas loves America.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
Now that Gabby has established that she doesn’t care what people think of her hair, it seems FOX News might be taking aim at her love for the good ol’ red, white and blue. The conservative news outlet brought out David Webb to discuss Team USA’s competition uniforms which don’t prominently feature the stars and strips.
Rather than having flag-inspired uniforms for the 2012 London Olympics, the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team wore metallic magenta, among other colors. This rubbed David the wrong way as other countries, like China, Russia and Spain, feature more patriotic color-schemes.
In his estimation, it just makes the U.S. look like its athletes are trying to keep their love of country on the low. David was speaking about Team USA’s uniforms as a whole, but a FOX News anchor held up Gabby as a prime example of what he is talking about.
"What’s wrong with showing pride?" David questioned. "What we’re seeing is this kind of soft anti-American feeling where Americans can’t show our exceptionalism."
What FOX News didn’t mention is that although the athletes can make a few modifications to their uniforms, they are are not responsible for designing the outfits they wear to compete.
David also neglected to mention that the gymnastics team wore a number of different uniforms in the arena, one of which was a deep blue with a starburst design on the chest. And nevermind the fact that members of the swim team actually have American flags printed on their caps.
Also, he must have missed the parade of nations during the opening ceremonies. While the walk-in outfits may have been made in China, the ensembles borrowed heavily on the colors of the American flag.
Of course, people are entitled to their opinions, so check out the list of celebs who supported Gabby despite her wardrobe.
