Sparkle co-stars Jordin Sparks, Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejogo don’t think there’s anyone that could pull off playing Whitney Houston in a biopic.
People have been chattering about a possible movie about Whitney’s life since before she suddenly died in February. Meagan Good was the first actress to state that she wanted a crack at the role, and she revealed that Whitney would have approved of the casting.
Up until February, it had really just been idle gossip. After her death, though, the world began to debate whether such a film should be put into production now. If a studio did start shooting a biopic, then who would play the icon?
Several names, including Sparkle co-star Tika Sumpter, have been tossed around, but the ladies of the remake aren’t sure anyone is up to the task.
"I don’t know. Whitney had such a strength and she was just one in a million. She had everything. She had the humility, she had the ‘it’ factor, she had the sense of humor," Jordin Sparks, flanked by Tika and Carmen, told TheUrbanDaily.com. "Find somebody who has all of that, and maybe they’ll be able to do it."
Before her tragic passing, Whitney had some glowing remarks for her co-stars, too.
