Unlike some reality shows, Eva Marcille said she and her co-stars won’t be engaging in knockdown, drag-out fights ‘cause they’re true friends.
“What’s really cool about our show that’s different than a lot of the other reality shows, is that we’re friends. All of us are real life girlfriends, we’ve known each other for at least five to 10 years,” she told VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz.”
In contrast, some shows like VH1’s popular “Basketball Wives” introduce virtual unknowns into an already established clique. Likewise, “Bad Girls Club,” throws eight or so strangers into a house together, and conflict often results.
The first African American winner of “America’s Next Top Model,” has returned to reality TV in Oxygen’s “Girlfriend Confidential.”
While the ladies do argue, Eva said they don’t allow things to get too out of hand.
“There is fighting. There’s drama, but the difference is there is a resolution to our conflict. We don’t let it just linger out. When you get in an argument with one of your best friends, which is what we are, you just don’t erase the friendship. You can’t throw it away. You just don’t say anything when you’re upset,” she explained.
However, Eva can relate to how the stress of her business can take its toll on some celebrities.
“It can get crazy,” she said. “I think it’s entertainment, rock stars, whatever business you’re in that you have to keep an image and you have to be a certain way all the time. I think that’s the pressure.”
Luckily for Eva, she said her girls help her stay grounded.
“Having each other in this crazy business makes it so much easier,” she said of her co-stars, and that dependence on and trust in one another is what “Girlfriend Confidential” offers that other shows don’t, according to Eva.
“The relationships and the dynamics happen to be a little different when you love each other,” she said.
Eva talks about heartbreak, new love, “America’s Next Top Model” and more in the October 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
