Santigold, formerly known as Santogold, is returning to the stage and the studio.
According to Billboard.com, Santigold has been in the booth recording guest vocals for new albums by the Beastie Boys and David Byrne. Their sources say that she’s been laying down some new tracks with Pharell too.
If she weren’t busy enough, the rapper-singer-songwriter is also getting ready to headline her own tour.
Santigold announced back in February that she was going a by a new name.
"Change the graffiti on the bathroom wall, get your tattoo fixed, get your t-shirt airbrushed and change the name on your year end list,” she said in statement. “She’s not telling you why, that’s just how it is. No unpronounceable symbol, no numbers where they shouldn’t be, no random capitalization, just plain a** Santigold so remember that."
The statement didn’t mention that she was being forced to change her name because of a pending lawsuit. A jeweler and part-time director, Santo Gold, claims she jacked his swag by stealing his name. Now, he’s planning to record an album called I Am the Real Santo Gold, Billboard.com reports.
In the meantime, Santigold is too busy to worry about a minor name change. We just hope this is the last name change for the singer.
