‘Dancing With The Stars’ recap: April 6, 2009

    Lawrence Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
    Dance: Paso Doble

Lawrence Taylor bounded out onto the dance a little later to do the Paso Doble, which is a dance where you twirl your partner like a cape. (We don’t recommend you try that at home, though)

Last week he failed to impress the judges with his Argentine Tango; they thought that he looked uncomfortable, and the player had to agree with them.

“I feel comfortable when I know the words of the song and I can get into it,” he said of last week’s dance. “So yeah, I guess I wasn’t comfortable.”

That posed a challenge during practice. “The Paso Doble is like watching TV with the sound turned off,” he said. However, he did get to use some of his muscle in the dance, which is familiar territory for the former NFL player.

Honestly, we weren’t really sure what to expect from Lawrence, but we’re glad that he got to do more on the floor than he did last week. And he brought some real power to his Paso Doble as he swung Edyta around the floor like a piece of cloth.

We have to admit, “graceful” and “nimble” aren’t the first words that come to our mind when we think of Larry, but we were super impressed when he hit those quick steps during the middle of the routine.  Nice hustle Lawrence!

Bruno seemed pleasantly surprised with Lawrence’s performance because he said the baller "started off like a block of granite."

Carrie Ann acknowledged that Larry’s range of motion is a bit limited, but said that what he does with it is incredible.

Len didn’t see it quite the same way and said the dance quality was not really there in his opinion, but that it was still the best he’d ever seen Lawrence dance.

Overall, Lawrence and Edyta got 20 points from the judges, which isn’t too bad considering their scores last week.
