Erykah Badu brings soul to the beauty biz

Erykah Badu’s known for her laid-back, witty, soulful style of music. Kiehl’s is known for their infallible, super-hydrating potions like the bestselling Creme de Corps. Put the two together and you have Erykah Badu’s Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion.

The collabo is part of the Kiehl’s Gives Back campaign, which also went to actor Adrian Grenier, professional surfer Kelly Slater and the Parsons Institution (a fashion school in New York) for beauty inspiration. Erykah’s product is made with fair-traded argan oil, a highly-nourishing ingredient derived from North African argan trees. The singer had a hand in designing the bottle’s label, which lookes as if it takes its cues from the artwork on her last album, New Amerykah Part One (4th World War).

This represents the second time in about a year that Erykah has used her famous name to sell beauty; in July of last year she was the face of Tom Ford’s White Patchouli fragrance.

Kiehl’s will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from Erykah’s lotion to the World Youth Water Alliance.
