Called the Academy Awards of fashion, the annual Costume Institute Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art draws the brightest stars from all over the pop culture spectra.
This year’s event, titled The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion payed tribute to those creatures that sashay down the runways and pose for frames. We weren’t left out this year, as Kanye West (with his famous plus one), Rihanna, Ciara, Tyra Banks and models Iman, Sessilee Lopez and Chanel Iman all walked the red carpet of the event.
Rihanna: Who else but RiRi could rock a broad-shouldered Dolce & Gabbana tux with such swag?! Any signs of trauma or distress were gone as this young fashion plate showed off her signature haircut, bold eye shadow and amazing couture.
Amber Rose and Kanye West: ‘Ye’s main girl lived up to her name in this ruby red, floor-length gown. A gold clutch, small earrings and a hint of bright lipcolor kept this fashion darling’s look low-key for the evening. Never to be outdone, Kanye was dashing in a smoldering tux and blinged out watch.
Ciara: Attending the event as a guest of designer Emilio Pucci, Ciara was decked out in his wares from head to toe. We love the fit of her silk gown; it completely shows off her abs of steel and slim frame.
Sessilee Lopez: This budding superstar model (she’s appeared in Vogue magazine and ads for Rachel Roy) glowed in a Zac Posen dress and gold Diane von Furstenberg shoes.
Tyra Banks: Though she officially stopped modeling years ago, Tyra couldn’t resist making her way down the red carpet to honor her brethren. She wore a striking strapless black gown, a printed wrist cuff and an eye-catching updo.
Iman: No salute to models would be complete without the fabulousness that is Iman. She completely ganked the attention in a silk ivory gown and minimal diamond jewelry.
Chanel Iman: The teenaged "It" girl lived up to her name in this elegant Zac Posen gown with the mile-long train.
Other attendees included Eva Longoria and Rosario Dawson.
