Beyoncé is a lot of things: beautiful, talented and incredibly successful. But ask folks what they think of first and the answer’s likely to be something about her amazing, toned-yet-feminine shape. She recently spoke with Self magazine for the cover of their June issue and revealed how she got into tour shape (and wriggled into those impossibly tight Thierry Mugler costumes) in just three months.
Repetition, Repetition: Bey ain’t afraid of hard work, as evidenced by her daily strength training schedule: 100 reps each of squats, step-ups and walking lunges, 3 to 5 minutes of boxing with 3-pound weights, and, "I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] 5-pound weights the whole song," the singer told the magazine.
Run for the gold: It’s no secret that Mrs. Carter sees Oscar gold in her future, and she uses that as motivation to do her cardio. She has an Oscar painting in the gym that she looks at while running on the treadmill. "I look at it, and I’m like OK, I have to stay in shape,"Beyoncé said.
She’s a (dance) maniac: If you really want to look like Bey, all you’ve got to do is complete 9-hour tour rehearsals every day for over two months. For her "I AM…" world tour, the singer put in 600+ hours of prep beginning on January 17 until the tour started on March 26–all in 5-inch stilettos! And, yeah, it was hell for her. "When I come home and take them off, I’m like, "Oh, my God! I wish I could just chop my feet off!" she told Self.
It’s all in the hips: The cherry on top of her banging body sundae is an added dose of confidence that transforms the admittedly soft-spoken star into the sex kitten that is Sasha Fierce. Here’s a crash course on "the walk": "It’s about self-esteem," she said. "It’s in the hips. Lean back, stretch your neck, keep your shoulders low, point your toes and cross one foot in front of the other."
