Amerie’s ‘In Love’ with Def Jam

Amerie is set to drop her next album with her new label, Def Jam Recordings.
In Love & War will be the songbird’s first release with the label, and apparently, she can’t put it out soon enough for some folks. In May, Funk Master Flex played the first single, “Why R U,” for 15 minutes straight on New York’s Hot 97.
“Why R U,” officially hits radio on June 15, but you can catch the music video when it premieres on BET June 8. The Buchanans produced the track, and it has an old-school feel to it. The sound reminds us a little of early Mary J. Blige.

You might remember The Buchanans for their work on Amerie’s last two albums (Touch and Because I Love It).  They’ve also worked their musical magic on Jay-Z’s The Black Album and Beyoncé’s Dangerously in Love. Amerie also got a few other heavyweights to man the board on this project: Teddy Riley, Sean Garrett and Bryan-Michael Cox all have producer credits.
To hear what all the buzz is about, you can pick up In Love & War when it drops in August.
