Newcomer Drake is making a name for himself both in and out of the booth now that he’s helping Rihanna with her next album.
Between heavy rotation and nonstop buzz, Drake is arguably the hottest new artist to pop up in quite a while. He’s been signed to Young Money by Lil Wayne and performed with Kanye West. Now, he can add another big name to his list of associates: Rihanna.
Drake told London’s DJ Semtex that he’s recently been in the studio with Rih writing songs for her next album.
"I enjoy a challenge. I’ve never in my mind felt like, ‘Oh, I could probably write something crazy for Rihanna.’ That wasn’t my first thought,” he said. “But being put up to the task, we’re coming up with some special stuff. It’s crazy, man. All I could do is smile. It’s nice."
Not surprisingly the young MC has had to dodge the rumor mill behind reports that he and Rihanna were seen breaking their professional distance at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge in New York City a few weeks ago. He denies whispers that they were locking lips at the bowling alley.
But what has his most recent challenge been? Holding his own while sharing the stage with hip-hop staples Talib Kweli and Bun B. Check out what he had to say about the performance:
