Kelis took to Twitter so she could talk about a topic that raised more than a few eyebrows: infidelity.
“This lovely day I would like to touch on cheaters,” Kelis tweeted Thursday afternoon. “Why be cowardly? Why not go after what you really want? Do people know what they want? Probably not, which just goes into know and respecting ones self.”
The “Bossy” singer didn’t say what or who inspired her to fire off the barrage of angry tweets to more than 9,000 followers, but we wonder if this wasn’t directed at Nas. After all, the two are going through a very nasty—and public—divorce.
The always-outspoken Kelis made sure to let her readers know what she really thinks about men who cheat and the women who lay with them.
“Also, we can discuss whores—I mean the nasty subpar tricks that participate in the cheating. Well, let me say this: Both parties are gross. And in reality, they deserve each other,” she wrote. “The woman/women who partake are stupid and pitiful. …All the scum bag coward husbands and the less then impressive sluts unite! You can all go down in flames together!”
Kelis said that sleeping with married men is something she’d expect younger women (23 and under) to do, but she feels that women really just need to take more responsibility for their hurtful actions. And although she’s “disgusted and bitter” by the whole notion of cheating, she acknowledged that the other woman shouldn’t bear all the blame for it.
“I have no [patience] for any of it, but the problem is women usually blame the women. I am here to say the husband is way more at fault,” Kelis clarified. “Men are driven by something different then we are. “
