Mykelti Williamson is, to date, best known for his portrayal of Bubba in the ’90s blockbuster Forrest Gump. All that may change for the 49-year-old actor when he joins the eighth season cast of FOX’s hit "24."

    The Hollywood Reporter
confirmed that Mykelti will play Brian Hastings, the leader of New York’s Counter Terrorist Unit  with "a razor-sharp intellect."

Kiefer Sutherland is at the helm of the current "24," which is also adding Freddie Prinze Jr., Anil Kappor, John Boyd, Chris Diamantopoulos and Jennifer Westfeldt to the group.

Besides Forrest Gump, Mykelti has appeared in Waiting to Exhale, Ali and ATL.
