Lil’ Wayne may want to blame it on the alcohol when it comes to the latest lawsuit he’s been slapped with.
According to the New York Daily News, the rapper is being sued by Red City Entertainment for sleeping through a gig in the Bahamas last year. He was supposed to be the main attraction for an event called Poppin’ Bottles, which took place on September 27, 2008 at Bristol Wine & Spirits Grounds in Nassau.
"This was targeted as a showcase for Lil’ Wayne," said the promoters’ lawyer, Glenn Gitomer. "Then police found him intoxicated in his hotel room."
The entertainment company filed suit against Weezy in Manhattan Superior Court, claiming that he was knocked out and “unwilling to perform” when the cops found him. That was disappointing news for the more than 5,000 fans that were sent home behind Wayne’s need for a nap.
"It was a great expense just to accommodate him," Glenn said.
The Daily News couldn’t reach Wayne’s camp for comment on the nocturnal no-show.
