Kanye West announced that it may be time for him to take a break from the music industry.
After performing “Run This Town” on the premiere of “The Jay Leno Show”, Kanye sat down to talk about his now-infamous VMA outburst during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech.
During the interview host Jay Leno asked the 32-year-old rapper what his late mother, Donda West, would have to say about his behavior. The question obviously upset Kanye, who had difficulty answering the question right away. It took him a moment to collect himself before offering his reply.
“You know, obviously, I deal with hurt and, you know, so many celebrities, they never take time off,” he said. "And I’ve never taken the time off, just music and music and tour after tour, and I’m ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt. After this, I need to just take some time off and analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve, because I am a celebrity and that’s just something I’m going to have to deal with."
Kanye, who admitted that his actions Sunday were out of pocket, said he hopes to apologize to Taylor directly someday.
“If there’s anything I can do for Taylor in the future, or help anyone, I want to,” he said. “It’s hard sometimes you know.”
