Jill Scott has signed on to star as an ex-alcoholic in a TV movie for Lifetime.
The film, Sins of the Mother, centers on a grad student who goes home to confront her abusive mother. The co-ed comes home to find that her mother has turned her life around: She’s stopped drinking and she has a 3-year-old daughter.
Variety.com reports that Jill, who also stars in HBO’s hit series “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” will play the mom.
Sins of the Mother is based on Carleen Brice’s novel, Orange Honey and Mint. Production is set to begin this week and it will sometime in 2010.
