Stars get eco-friendly with Haiti

Celebrities are joining a cause that’s helping Haiti go green and create jobs.
Stars like Wyclef Jean, Garcelle Beauvais, Russell Simmons and Free are backing an organization called Love N’ Haiti in the BBC World News World Challenge this year. The competition rewards ground-breaking projects all over the world.
Finalist Love N’ Haiti, for example, is an organization that takes trash and recycles it into paper charcoal briquettes.  Haiti has been hit hard by deforestation and has lost more than half of its trees because so many residents use wood charcoal to cook their food. Now, Love N’ Haiti aims to preserve the remaining trees, clean up neighborhoods and create new jobs with their mission.
Garcelle is acting as a campaign ambassador for them, and she’s trying to get them enough votes to win the contest. The World Challenge winner receives $20,000 in grant money to support their objectives.
Also backing the cause is former president Bill Clinton, who’s giving the details on what Love N’ Haiti does and the benefits it provides to the community in the video below.
