Run-DMC bringing story to stage

Run-DMC are looking to become the kings of broadway with a new musical on their rise to fame.

Varitey.com reports that Paula Wanger, producer of The Last Samurai and the Mission: Impossible series, is developing a new musical about the iconic hip-hop group.

Rev. Run and DMC will be meeting up with Paula in New York sometime this week to discuss the stage adaptation of their inspiring story, but there aren’t any particulars on what they’ll be working out in the meeting.

Paula’s company, Chestnut Ridge Productions, will be overseeing the production, and she promises that Run-DMC’s history will be presented in a manner truly befitting the trio.

"I feel their story lends itself perfectly to the stage,” Paula told Variety. This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them."

There’s no word on when we can expect the as-yet untitled musical to hit the great white way, but we’ll be some of the first in line for a ticket. Trust!
