Jennifer Hudson is returning to Chicago nearly a year after the butal murders of her mom, brother and nephew.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that she’ll be going home to tape an ABC special, “Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” The singer and actress will let fans into her world as she reminisces about what holidays were like for her growing up, and she’ll take viewers to the church where she got her start in music.
The announcement came nearly a year after the deaths of Jen’s mother, Darnell Hudson, brother, Jason Hudson, and nephew, Julian King. Darnell’s and Jason’s bodies were found in their South Side Chicago home on October 24. Julian, who was originally reported missing, was found dead in an SUV days later.
William Balfour, Jen’s estranged brother-in-law, has been charged with first-degree murder in their shooting deaths.
While this holiday season might be a difficult one for J. Hud, she has much to be thankful for: She and fiancé David “Punk” Otunga just had a baby and this will be their first Christmas as a family.
