Mavis Spencer is Miss Golden Globe

Alfre Woodard’s daughter has been given a very special honor for the Golden Globes.

Forget being crowned homecoming queen: Mavis Spencer, 18, has been named Miss Golden Globe 2010, Variety.com reports.

"It means a lot to me as a young person to be a part of something with such a rich history," she said.

The title usually goes to the daughter of a celebrity, and this year is no different. Her mom has won a Golden Globe and her father is writer producer Roderick Spencer. Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, got the honor for 2009.

After the Golden Globes, airing January 17, the model-actress will be heading to Columbia University.
