Alfre Woodard joins ‘True Blood’

If we didn’t have a billion reasons to love “True Blood” already, Alfre Woodard is set to appear on the HBO series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alfre is set to make a guest appearance on “True Blood” as Lafayette Reynold’s mother. There’s no word yet on whether this will be a one-time appearance or whether Alfre will have a recurring role.
Lafayette was something of a spitfire before he was kidnapped, so were excited to find out how writers will imagine his mother. Even more interesting to see will be her relationship with him and niece Tara Thornton.

We can’t wait to see Alfre in action, but alas, the series won’t return to HBO until June 2010.

Series fans on various message boards said last season of “True Blood” was almost too much for some of them. That certainly didn’t hurt ratings, though, because about 11.2 million viewers tuned in each Sunday.
