Atlanta housewife NeNe Leakes is breaking her silence about son Bryson Bryants recent arrest.
NeNe, from Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” released a statement saying, “Like any parent, I am disappointed with the actions and arrest of my son, Bryson. Certainly, my husband and I will deal with this family issue in a private manner.”
The reality star’s son was recently taken to Gwinnet County Detention Center on charges of possession and failure to appear. Authorities had found Bryson with less than an ounce of marijuana.
“My son is not the first young adult to experiment with marijuana, and he certainly won’t be the last,” NeNe said in defense of her child. “Still, as parents, this is a chance for us to have an open dialogue with him about the dangers of any substance abuse.”
Many people had been wondering what took her so long to come out with a statement, and some blogs criticized her for heading to New York this week instead of staying in Atlanta to address the matter. However, as NeNe pointed out on Twitter, her trip to Manhattan was strictly business as she was set to appear at the Hue-Man bookstore in Harlem to promote her book, Never Make The Same Mistake Twice.
Despite the gravity of this situation, NeNe said this is a time to show Bryson some tough love, and she thanks fans for their support during this time.
“Morning tweetie pies! I’ve read all ur comments & I thank u 4 ur kind words & understanding,” NeNe tweeted this morning, “this to shall pass.”
