Centric keeps up with ‘Jones’ magazine

“The City” meets “The Real Housewives” franchise in this brand new self-described docu-soap from Centric called "Keeping With the Joneses."

Aptly named, “Keeping Up With the Joneses” gives us a taste of the ups and downs of high society combined with a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what it takes to succeed in the magazine industry.

Tracey Ferguson is editor-in-chief and founder of Jones magazine, which covers the high fashions, hair, makeup and soirees of Houston’s Black elite. Viewers will be able to go along for the journey as Tracey takes her magazine from regional to national, all the while soothing egos, hosting parties and raising two teenagers as a single mom.

We’ll get to meet an interesting cast of characters, from magazine staff to best friends, who all support Tracey in her dream of competing with the big dogs of national media. From her society editor and VP of marketing, Bryce, who seems more like a best friend than a business partner, to VP of ad sales Tamara, who puts the “duh” in “diva,” there’s more than enough to keep us interested.

Add in Tracey’s dynamic duo, Kendall, the pouting (but sweet) princess, and Josh, the musically gifted teen with the typical teen ’tude (girl, girls and more girls), and we can plan on some great moments. There’s a whole lot of drama when this band of Houston hotties step on the screen.

Tracey is trying to manage it all, while still grieving for her late husband and trying to rule the roost both in the office and in her home. She’s tough, smart and savvy, and will have viewers admiring her and rooting for her throughout the eight issues planned for this season.

Keep up with these Joneses and see how it all turns out, starting Thursday, April 8 at 8 p.m. EST.
