‘Colored Girls’ casting revealed

Tyler Perry is lining up some of our favorite talented ladies for his screen adaptation of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.
He took a little time during the premiere of Why Did I Get Married Too? to tell
BV Buzz that Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington Lorreta Devine and Jurnee Smollet will all be appearing in the film.

The multi-hyphenate movie powerhouse has also recruited from his current pool of talent as both Janet Jackson and Kimberly Elise will take part in For Colored Girls. Also attached to the project is quirky singer Macy Gray.

And fresh off of her critically acclaimed performance in Precious is Mariah Carey, who has also a part in the Tyler’s new project.
Tyler has confirmed that he will be directing For Colored Girls, which is supposed to begin production in New York this summer. It’s slated to hit theaters much later this year or in early 2011. It will be the first project released by 34th Street Films, Tyler’s production imprint under Lionsgate Films.
