Erykah Badu is bearing more than her soul in the revealing video for “Window Seat.”
The singer dropped the controversial clip over the weekend. It depicts Erykah publicly undressing as she walks to the sight of President John F. Kennedy’s 1963 assassination in Dallas, Texas. One bystander attempted to collects Erykah’s clothes in a futile attempt to help the singer out, but he quickly gives that up.
When we thought of possible scenarios for “Window Seat” stripping in the street was not one of them. Erykah was inspired by another YouTube video, Matt & Kim’s “Lessons Learned.” The singer mixed old and new together in the video’s climax when she’s struck dead by a sniper bullet, and she bleeds the words “group think.”
“They play it safe and are quick to assassinate what they don’t understand,” she explains at the end of the clip.
You can watch “Window Seat” below, but we warn you that it is a fairly graphic video.
