The cast and crew of TNT’s “HawthoRNe” insist that Will Smith is starting some drama on the set.
Sources close to the show told the New York Daily News that Will is making things uncomfortable behind the scenes of the medical drama. His wife, Jada Pinkett Smitt, stars on the hit show as a nurse.
Shooting for “HawthoRNe” came to a screeching halt for eight days earlier this month, but it recently resumed. There’s some dispute over what caused the impromptu vacation, though. One insider claims it was caused by an illness in Will and Jada’s family. Another tipster said the network called the timeout to work on kinks in production caused by Will, a “HawthoRNe” co-producer.
"He is not currently shooting a movie, so he’s been a constant on the set in recent weeks," the second source said. "He’s been inserting his input and requesting so many changes to the script that it pushed back the production schedule tremendously and caused everything to spiral out of control."
Reportedly, Will is so adamant about “HawthoRNe” pushing the envelope that he gives show writers pages and pages of notes every week, suggesting different ways they could tweak the script. Apparently his creative input has gotten so bad that “everyone is praying for him to book a new movie so that he will go away."
Will is contemplating a few different projects right now, so the cast and crew could soon get their wish. In the meantime, TNT isn’t commenting on claims from the set. Will’s camp, however, is flat-out denying the rumors.
