Washington, D.C., is coming into its own when it comes to fashion, and designing newbie Tashia Senn is leading the pack.

Our nation’s capital isn’t really known for telling us what’s hot and what’s not in the world of runways and fabulous fashions, but one designer is setting out to change that. D.C.-native Tashia Senn is well aware of how to make an outfit—make that, a collection—look great, which she proved at the unveiling of her Fall/Winter line March 27 at her Signature Label Trunk Show in D.C.

“I love that iconic Hollywood glamour,” said the recent FIT grad. And glamour is right, with feminine-chic in every stitch.  Taking inspiration from famous fashion-forward icons Lena Horne, Twiggy and Jackie O, Tashia has produced a line that is wearable yet refreshingly fantastic.

With a new season filled with trendy jumpers, eye-catching cocktail dresses and an evening gown or two, Tashia has something for every fashionista. And the colors are oh-so fall fabulous: shimmery black, brown and tan, and a stunning burnt orange hue that really popped. Tashia even kept it high-end with the fabrics she used, sticking to luxurious looks made of chantilly lace, silk, and wool cashmere. She also added touches of Swarovski crystals, splashes of semi-precious stones and French lace (can you say oo-la-la?).

Tashia could have launched her line out of NYC, but where’s the fun in that? “I didn’t wanna start my line there,” she said. “Everybody had a line. It was just saturated with them.”

She decided to challenge herself and take it back to her hometown of D.C., where she has faith big things will happen. “D.C. is really moving fashion-forward,” Tashia said. “It’s a great market.”

Her goal? Becoming a great American designer, which includes conquering NYC Fashion Week. She’s claiming it, and if this line is any indication, we think she’s well on her way.
