‘Dancing With the Stars’ recap: April 12

Couple: Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke

    Dance: Rumba

It’s not hard to see that Chad is a ladies’ man with moves as smooth as his bald head, so the rumba should have been no problem for him, right? Not so much.

“Sometimes in rehearsal I feel like Chad is dragging me around a football field instead of on a dance floor,” Cheryl said, while flashing that huge ring he gave her. “Being soft and gentle is hard for him to do.”

Chad seemed confused by his difficulty with fine-tuning the dance as well.

“The rumba should come naturally, but for some reason I haven’t gotten it yet,” Chad said during practice.  “The judges are always on me about my posture. I’ve worked on it; at some point I’m going to get it.”

We think there was a marked improvement in Chad’s technique. We don’t know what Cheryl’s doing, but it seems to be working!

All the work Chad did to get his frames right seemed to have paid off, if you ask Len. “Improvement in the posture improvement in the performance,” he said. Your best dance, well done.”

Carrie Ann co-signed Len’s sentiments adding, “Chad, you definitely turned up the heat.”

And apparently, the NFL star was so in the zone that he hit a rare benchmark during his Rumba. Bruno said, “You were fluid, you sustained the lines. Very few man do it and I commend you for it.”

With reviews like that, we have to say we were a little surprised that Chad and Cheryl only scored a 44 (21 points for technique and 23 points for performance).

Ah, well, their fate in the competition is still up the fans anyway. See if they made it through to the next round when “Dancing With the Stars: the Results” airs tonight at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. You definitely won’t want to miss the performance by Sade on tonight’s episode. We can’t wait to see what she brings to the ballroom!
