Jay-Z sues for club copy

Jay-Z has just slapped David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox with a lawsuit for jacking his club idea.

The New York Post reports that Hov filed suit against Big Papi, charging the baseball player and his sister, Albania Ortiz, with trademark infringement for the Forty Forty club they opened in the Dominican Republic last year. Jay claims David jacked the idea from his 40/40 club in New York.

The suit also accuses David and Albania of unjust enrichment, “false designation of sponsorship,” and cyber squatting. The pair set up a Spanish-language Web site at www.fortyforty.net.

Court documents include a picture of David visiting Jay-Z’s club in 2008. Hov is seeking $5 million in damages.
